Monroe Youth Drowns At Lafayette Motel Pool
A 13 year old Monroe boy Frank Powers Jr. drowned at a Lafayette motel pool Friday afternoon. He dived to the pool bottom to fetch a coin, removed a grill from the drain pipe and his hand became trapped. Pool pumps were cut off as police and divers tried to free him. his body was recovered about 45 minutes after he disappeared. The Lafayette Parish Coroner ruled accidental drowning.
