Missouri Synod Leaders Gather for Forty Ninth National Convention
Delegates from over 5,000 congregations with about 1.56 million adherents convened at the Palmer House Chicago for a nine day session of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri Ohio and other states. The centennial rally will be held July 27 at Soldiers Field with Dr J W Behiken preaching to an expected crowd above 100000. Plans include funding requests for theological schools abroad, parish education expansion, youth league cooperation, Student Service Work growth, a new name for the Synod, and a broad program to raise funds for relief in Europe and spiritually aid devastated nations.
