McCormick defeats Heard Holcomb and Moore in city judge and marshal races across Ward Five. Official returns pending after several precincts reported results with McCormick leading. precinct nine tallies missing on the tallier sheet.
Southern delegates fear the Nixon Rockefeller civil rights plank will be as harsh as the Democratic platform in Los Angeles. Conservative Sen. Barry Goldwater opposes the Nixon Rockefeller accord calling it a Nixon surrender and predicts strong floor opposition.
