The Ouachita Valley Defense School in West Monroe will operate under Louisiana state auspices after Gov. Jimmy Davis signed a bill authorizing 000,000 dollars annually for two years. Superintendent George W. Welch said H. P. Willis will remain as director under the state department of education. Plans for summer classes include electricity, radio, aircraft, mechanics, que temobile mechanics, machine shop and welding.

Third Camp Week at Ki-Ro-Li Ends
The third week of the summer camping season at Camp Ki-Ro-Li northwest of here was completed with L. L. Price, commissioner of the Ouachita Valley Council, declaring the week one of the best. Representatives from multiple troops attended and the council fire included an Indian ceremony and the naming of the five best camp participants.

Scouts Named to Order of the Arrow at Camp
Seventy five Scouts earned certificates in leadership training advancement and merit badges at the camp. Named to the Order of the Arrow were Jack Holland Harold Bynum James Donnell Jessie York and Bobby Jones from troops 32 33 53 73 and 17. Camp leadership was led by E J Brown with Charles B Cook Ed Price Lloyd Paul and Louis Preston assisting. A total of 112 scouts from troops 13 17 22 28 29 30 31 32 34 38 43 44 45 49 53 57 67 71 and 73 attended, with two scouts from El Dorado Arkansas.

Free Cigarette Project Grows for Veterans Overseas
H M James past post commander of the Rodney J Hobbs Post V F W reported at the last meeting that the free cigarette program for veterans overseas has surpassed 250 dollars. A check for the amount will be sent to the tobacco company which will add ten percent. Cigarettes will be distributed free to men in service overseas and all cents in special glass jars will go to the cause.
