Leander Craighead 67 died at his Farmerville residence after a lengthy illness. Services Sunday at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Craighead officiating. interment in church cemetery. Survivors include widow, one son Davis Craighead, one daughter Mrs. Mary Rath Simmons, and siblings. Funeral arrangements by Wilpatrick's.

Traffic deaths rise nationwide but rate falls

The National Safety Council reports 37,800 traffic deaths in 1959, up 500 from 1938 levels, while the mileage death rate remains the lowest on record. Disabling injuries reach 1,400,600 in 1959, up from 1,350,000 in 1958.

Summit Talk Failure Eyed By Leaders

Administration leaders view the opening round as a failure in their strategy to downgrade conference results. A speech to the Women's Forum on National Security said the United States would not enter with great expectations though the session could probe Soviet intentions.
