The Tallulah Production Credit Association held its annual meeting January 16 in the Tallulah courthouse with A. L. Sevier, president, framing the program around 1943 production goals and wartime food and fiber needs. He urged farmers to carpool to overcome transportation limits and support patriotic duties.

The RAF mounted a heavy second night raid on Lorient, Hitlers main Atlantic submarine base, setting fires in docks and pens and damaging workshops and stores. Western German rail targets were hit as 15 locomotives were damaged while no British bombers were lost.

Mr Sevier credits farmers for a record year in 1942 and notes production goals up 10 percent over last year. He expects higher financing needs despite bumper crops and rising prices. W E Regenold secretary treasurer and association officers presented annual reports to members.
The Navy's Land Cruiser touring Louisiana high schools arrives in Monroe at Ouachita Parish High School. The mobile recruiting office will be at nine tomorrow, offering physical exams and processing papers for recruits. It will also visit Rayville and Bastrop, contacting about 30 000 students in the next three to four weeks.
Second Lieutenant Robert L. Pedigo aged 25 died in a plane crash during a routine flight at Napier Field Alabama. He formerly lived in Knoxville Tennessee and was the son of Lola A. Pedigo. He was a University of Tennessee graduate. Details of the crash were not released.
About 2,000 cadets took part in a staged battle at Lourana State University, with infantry, artillery, and air support. Defenders halted attackers amid smoke screens and flour-bomb effects as part of a campus war simulation.
Leon Marx 62 died at his home 403 Alexander Avenue after ill health. Funeral at the residence Sunday at 10 30 am with Rabbi F K Hirsch officiating. Interment in local Jewish cemetery. Pallbearers listed. Peters Funeral Service in charge. Born November 26 1880 in Port Gibson Mississippi he lived in Monroe most of life. Survived by wife Ruth and two sons Leon Jr and Sol F Marx, three sisters Mrs Walker Glenn Mrs Lee Kuhn and Mrs D I Hirsch along with many nephews and nieces.

They operated planes from Mindanao to Java, flew A-20s, and built an operational training school nicknamed little Randolph to train new pilots while facing shortages of airplanes and anti aircraft fire.
