Last rites were held for J. A. Yount a 60 year old Hollandale Miss grocer executed in Greenville for the murder of Clifton Pope Hollandale town marshal. Services were in the Mulhearn Funeral chapel with Rev Sharp of Greenville officiating. Interment followed in Horn cemetery near Rayville. Survivors include two sisters Mrs Amelia Hunter and Mrs Charity.

Fire Chief E C Taylor reports 88 fires in 1941, down from 101 in 1940, with building losses at 4455 dollars versus 6702.50, and contents losses rising from 5735 in 1940 to 15075 in 1939. Fire types include house 20, auto 10, grass 46, misc 6, warehouse 2, service station 1, ingot company 1, garage 1. Department fought 56 hours 52 minutes and laid 9400 feet of hose. 18 fires were extinguished by hand. A separate note mentions a chimney claim at a Boston and Montana copper and silver mine works near Great Falls, Mont., 506 feet high.
