Traffic Deaths Rise to 346 Over Thanksgiving Weekend
The Associated Press reports 346 traffic deaths through Saturday evening as Thanksgiving weekend ends at midnight. Counting began 6 p.m. Wednesday, with few fatal multi passenger crashes. notable incidents occurred near Burnet Texas and Varna Illinois. The four day period saw lower totals than the 1962 peak of 514 and higher than 1960’s 442, compared with a nonholiday period tally of 477.

Absentee Ballots Cast in Ouachita Parish Primary
A total of 473 qualified voters cast absentee ballots for the Dee 7 Democratic primary in Ouachita Parish. Deputy clerk Harold Gill reported 72 ballots were cast Saturday before noon. 121 ballots were cast Friday. Balloting occurred mainly at the temporary polls in the parish courthouse basement, with some by mail.
