Tornadoes Strike Three Towns in Northeast Louisiana

Tornadoes and strong winds damaged Jonesboro Winnfield and Oak Grove with roofs torn from buildings, a cabinet shop wrecked, and the Carey Salt Mines roof damaged. No serious injuries reported as rain eased and sun returned in the Twin Cities area.

Army to triple STRAC readiness with new III Corps

The Army will expand STRAC from three to eight divisions by creating the III Corps at Fort Hood Texas. The move adds a second STRAC corps with armored emphasis to handle simultaneous crises while keeping overall manpower steady. The 49th Armored and 32nd Infantry National Guard divisions join the new corps, with two upcoming regular divisions to replace them this summer.

Snow Flurries Spread Across Regions Amid Mixed Precipitation

The Associated Press reports scattered snow flurries in the North with sleet and rain in the middle latitudes and the South. Snow fell from the Rockies to the Great Lakes, while a western storm weakened after moving into Colorado. Drifts appeared in Wyoming and Montana, with icy roads in parts of Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois and substantial rainfall in Pine Bluff, Greensboro, Chattanooga, and Knoxville.

Protest Over Waterfowl Rules At Ouachita Hearing

Louisiana Arkansas and Mississippi wildlife directors led about 250 sportsmen at a Ouachita Wildlife Unit hearing protesting U S Fish and Wildlife Service waterfowl regulations.
