About a dozen people rode in three cars and escaped injury after a Viking sedan driven by Jim Mason reportedly turned over twice at Washington and Fifth streets at 9 Saturday night. The Viking was said to be in the charge of J. W. Perry and collided with a LaSalle roadster driven by W. D. Strong and a Nash driven by Tom King. Police received reports from those involved.
A severe storm in central Sao Paulo province killed five workmen at the National Coffee Warehouse in Cantadu ras and caused extensive damage. The disaster damaged the warehouse complex and surrounding properties, with further destruction reported across the region.
Roy Carpenter a Long Beach pilot died when his private plane crashed into the ocean off Del Mar California. Dr. Oren L. Hailey 81 longtime executive secretary of the Southern Baptist convention died after a six week illness in Nashville. A native of Fayette County Tennessee born June 21 1852 he spent the last 14 years promoting religion and education among African Americans nationwide and traveled widely in the north for the causes.
Two people died in separate traffic accidents in the New Orleans area. Marvin Roberts, 37, died after his motorcycle struck a car last night. William Krey, 63, was fatally injured in an automobile collision in Algiers.
