Area Man Dies In Car Truck Crash Saturday
A freight truck driver tried to swerve to miss an out of control auto near Columbia early Saturday, killing the auto driver Charles R. White 25 of Holum Community near Grayson. Truck driver Landis R. Cupples 51 of Monroe uninjured. White had recently been released from the armed services and was on a Mississippi River barge assignment. The fatality occurred at 5 45 a m on U S Highway 165, 11 miles north of Columbia, the first Caldwell Parish traffic death of 1964. Funeral services were set for 2 p m at First Baptist Church Columbia with burial in Welcome Home Cemetery near Grayson. Survivors include his parents a brother and two sisters.
