State police captured 43 year old Frank Dearolph suspected of murdering Reuben Wentling and his son Reuben Jr. and attempting attack on Elizabeth Wentling. The suspect confessed to killings. Elizabeth and Olive Wentling were hospitalized after a porch roof fall during the attack.
Pittsburg Kas Dec 28 Nine year old Edward McFarland has accumulated 136 hours and 10 minutes in the air. He trained a small ship aloft with his father along as chaperone and landed at his destination without assistance.
The War Department outlined intensified army and marine efforts to improve assault methods akin to Nazi breakthroughs in France. At Fort Belvoir Virginia a group of 38 officers tested fortified zones with fixed emplacements and barbed wire, aiming to standardize new assault techniques for future operations. Training for engineer officers expands rapidly with 200 reserve officers graduating monthly and over 800 NCOs slated for January and February instruction to support new replacement centers.
A collision near Greenville Mississippi between a laundry truck and a six passenger car headed to Wisconsin killed Mrs. Ralph Thomas 50 of Elkhorn Wisconsin instantly and B C Little 47 of Milwaukee died in hospital.
