Solon Democrat Hopes Truman Will Seek Price Controls Again

Senator O Mahoney of Wyoming said he hopes President Truman will renew his request for standby power to curb price rises. He will chair the new Senate House economic committee in the 80th Congress and backs the anti inflation program despite Taft backing shelving. He has not seen the council of economic advisers memo outlining a broader cost of living plan expected to go to Congress early next month.

Anti Monopoly Action Sought by Small Business Group

The National Federation of Small Business urged federal action to curb monopolistic trends. A poll of independents showed 92 percent favor enforcing the anti trust act to stop manufacturers operating retail stores to promote monopoly, 93 percent want stronger Sherman act enforcement, 83 percent support Robinson Patman Act enforcement, and 75 percent oppose freight absorption pricing. Kefauver said he will push legislation to curb one corporation buying rivals.

More Cash Comes to Good Fellows Volunteers

He said it was the greatest honor he has ever received and will continue his service as long as he can.
