The U N Steering Committee urged a full airing of Russia's charge that U S troops butchered Communist prisoners on Pongam Island Korea. The vote was 11 to 0 with three abstentions. The U S rejected the charges as false and slanderous.
Homer S. Arender, 65, a Tallulah farmer born in Riley Mississippi, died by suicide with a .22 rifle using a stick trigger mechanism at his Roundabout Road home. Coroner notes two years of ill health, prior threats, and no note. Funeral at First Baptist. burial in Silver Cross. survivors include three sons, five daughters, two brothers, four sisters, ten grandchildren.
