Humble Oil to Build Three Large Tankers in New Orleans
Humble Oil and Refining Co plans three new supertankers costing about 50 million dollars. Avondale Shipyard of New Orleans won the contract for the 75 600 ton ships, the largest ever built in the U.S. for regular coastwise service. First delivery is set for August 1969, followed by December 1969 and April 1970.

Sterlington Area Leader Wilbur Keko Named UGF Chairman
Wilbur Keko plant manager of Commercial Solvents was named Sterlington Area Chairman for the 1968 United Givers Fund Campaign to be held in September and October. He has led United Fund efforts since 1964 in Sterlington and previously in Terre Haute Indiana, where he chaired campaigns in 1961 and 1962. The goal is $292,000 for 13 member agencies. In Gibson Louisiana the skidmarks on a damaged bridge led divers to the body of Thomas W. Ray 34 of Beaumont Texas. His car was found wrecked and dragged from a canal 30 feet deep after a passing motorist reported the bridge damage and skidmarks.
