Trousdale Honored At Review In Louisiana
The Delta Infantry Division paraded before Maj. Gen. George W. Trousdale retiring commanding general of the Arkansas Louisiana National Guardsmen. Trousdale of Monroe received the Distinguished Service Medal as nearly 9,000 troops watched. He joined the National Guard in 1922 as a private and rose to two-star general, serving in World War I and leaving active federal service in 1946. The 39th was led by him since April 1958. Co KE 217th Engineers of Clarksdale Ark won the Dr. George W. Wright memorial award for highest efficiency in the summer encampment and also the Eisenhower award for the most outstanding unit in Louisiana. Eisenhower trophy went to Co A 4th AA Howitzer Battalion of the 41st Artillery, New Orleans. The 30th will begin the final week of summer camp Monday.
