Britain refused political asylum to Dr Robert Soblen the 61 year old Latvian born spy who fled to Israel and was aboard an El Al flight forced to land in London after slashing his wrists He was ordered back to the United States to begin a life sentence for wartime espionage for the Soviets and to be removed from Britain.
