H. M. Frierson Missouri Pacific inspector was assaulted in the Plum Street cafe about 6 45 am after refusing to buy a bottle of beer for a stranger. Herman Harris WPA worker was arrested as the alleged assailant. Frierson received lacerations and bruises and was treated at St Francis sanitarium.
Louis Bleriot, renowned French flyer who first crossed the English Channel, died of a heart attack at 64. Born July 1, 1872, in Cambrai, he became an engineer after his aviation career and inspired later pilots including Charles Lindbergh.

A car and a sand truck collided on Calhoun road about 11 miles from Monroe injuring two men. One man, Kennedy, suffered fractures and head injuries, and Lieutenant Bowman received injuries.
