OPA Lowers Retail Beef and Lamb Ceilings
OPA Administrator Prentiss M. Brown announced new retail ceiling prices for beef and lamb will be 1 to 3 cents per pound lower than recent schedules and take effect May 17. The move follows Roosevelt hold the line policy. regional prices began April 15 but were suspended for review. Brown cites a about tenth of a percent drop versus February, with specific cuts for small north eastern stores and a continued, though unspecified, differential between independent shops and chains. Fifteen countries supplied markets for Canadian products in early 1941.
