Optometrists Convention To Be Held In Monroe
The Louisiana Optometric Association will stage its annual convention in Monroe on April 29 and 30 with headquarters at the Virginia Hotel. Tornado Strikes Okaloosa Area injuring 44 year old woman
A tornado hit nine miles southwest of Monroe early yesterday collapsing a farm home and injuring Mrs Otto A De Moss who was hospitalized at St Francis Sanitarium. The twister damaged seven other buildings and cut a two mile path through a nearby forest as Monroe recorded 50 mph winds and Twin Cities up to 50 mph gusts. Weather crews clocked 2.13 inches of rain with hail reported in some areas.

Geo S Holmes Rites Sunday Funeral for Winnfield Mill Leader
George Shove Holmes a longtime Brown Paper Mill general manager from the 1920s to 1932 died in a Winnfield hospital. The funeral is set for 3 PM at Hixson Brothers with a Masonic burial at Hasley Cemetery. He married Grace Schauble in 1901 and leaves wife, son John L Holmes, and grandchildren Charlotte and Shove. Holmes later formed Taylor and Holmes in insurance. An S A R member, Lotus Club and Mason, he was esteemed for a brilliant yet modest mind. Honorary pallbearers include all Brown Paper Mill employees.

Pow Wow earns All American rating for nineteenth time
