Dr Irving Graef of Bellevue Hospital told the American Association of Pathologists and Bacteriologists that mineral oils and animal fats inhaled into the lungs caused fatal pneumonia in six cases. Four doctors cited similar past cases. Cod liver oil aids bone building when swallowed but kills when inhaled. A reluctant child was forced to swallow oil through holding his nose. An autopsy case linked mineral oil in the lungs to death. Mentholated minerals oils dropped into the nose were called a public menace.

Long expanded authority over PWA grants and vote counting while enacting measures to curb anti Long figures in New Orleans.
