The tally lists Sanders 974, Sylvest 790, Wilson 1 505, Whitman 51 with the majority candidate holding a 52 vote edge. The results reflect a tight contest among five candidates in the recent primary.
Returns from 180 of 202 precincts in Louisiana's sixth district show Sanders leading Wilson by 1,760 votes but short of a majority. Sanders carried East Baton Rouge Parish. Wilson led in Washington and Ascension with Tangipahoa Parish incomplete. Sanders charged Long's organization backed Wilson, which he denied.

In a disputed December race Mrs. Bolivar E. Kemp was labeled the unopposed Democratic nominee for Amite widow of a late representative, while Sanders ran on an anti Long platform after mass meetings and two elections were deemed illegal by the House. The April primary was later set. Sanders campaign manager Henry N. Sherburne warned a second primary is unlikely.
A plan sent to the White House would back construction loans up to 80 percent of property value for 20 years at five percent. Modernization loans would run 10 years with 2000 maximum and 200 minimum, offered under a Federal Mutual Mortgage Insurance corporation. The Home Loan Bank Board would charter the associations, each with 5 million federal capital and bonds up to 15 times that cap, insured by the corporation.

Shreveport dispatches report Mrs. Armor Anderson 42 living with Fred Lockhart confessed as Slayer of Mae Giffin 16. She said her 18 year old son Ligon Jackson was murdered near Ferriday last fall and the real slayer has not been caught. The body found last November 26 near a Jonesville Ferriday highway was buried in Natchez cemetery after 13 days unidentified. Lockhart used the alias Jackson when luring Giffin to a lonely spot.

In Shreveport a man named Lockhart confessed to killing a young man whose body was found near Ferriday after being seen with him at a sawmill. Authorities pursue possible ties to the murder of Miss Giffin, whom Lockhart says he killed by slitting her throat after first stabbing her.
L V Tarver superintendent of Monroe police went to Shreveport to help review the record of Fred Lockhart the confessed attacker and slayer of Miss Mae Giffin. The case ties Georgia authorities who had sought Lockhart on a criminal assault charge and who held him for about two weeks before releasing him.
Deputy Sheriff Walker and Lafayette hotel staff identified a man as John Dillinger in the Grant Hold Up case. Hamilton and a woman companion rode the coach. they stayed at the Lafayette hotel in New Orleans on April 5 with Hamilton showing a fresh nose cut. A Pullman conductor recalled the same man, placing Hamilton in Chicago after April 8.
David Stovall an outlaw also known as E P Slippery Elmer and Cal Spencer died of a bullet wound in a city hospital after deputies trapped him last night. Elmer Green captured nearby reportedly confessed that he and Stovall robbed a transcontinental bus near Fort Worth last week.
Fred Lockhardt alias D B Napier, a 30 year old white man six feet tall 168 pounds with light hair, escaped from Murray county highway camp August 19 1931 while serving life for criminal attack records show. He bears facial injuries a tattoo of a heart and dagger on the left forearm and a V and B on the left palm.
Ouachita parish juvenile officer E. L. Wright will leave Friday noon for Baton Rouge to join the State Conference of Social Workers. The meeting runs Friday and Saturday with Dr Harriett Daggett presiding. The group aims to finalize proposed changes to the children code for submission to the state legislature.

Arkansas Louisiana Pipe Line Co. received a Wednesday permit to drill the Mrs. Elizabeth P. McEnery No. 8 gas well in Ouachita Parish. The well sits in Section 21, Township 19 N, Range 4 E.
About 300 industry representatives attended a Southern Industrial council meeting. Theodore Swann, a chemical manufacturer, warned that the NRA may ruin the south’s wage differentials and compared its impact to Sherman’s march to the sea. He warned of possible secession as the NRA unfolds. Applause greeted his remarks.
In Birmingham Alabama 21000 coal miners idle as southern industrialists meet to discuss possible NRA wage differential actions affecting mining and other industries. Alabama commercial coal miners sponsor the talks hoping to avert widespread shutdowns and awaiting NRA action from Washington.
The cotton measure awaits the president’s signature after the House backed the conference report 235 to 105. It imposes a 50 percent ad valorem tax on over quota production and sets quotas based on the average of the last five years. Opponents label it a route to agrarian regulation and a surrender to fascist controls.
Senator Bankhead credits cotton farmers for the success of a landmark 1935 36 agricultural measure. He urges leaving excess cotton unpicked to curb the surplus, stabilize prices, and enhance profits while safeguards against bootlegging are built into the bill. He advocated 75 percent tax. the final conference set 50 percent.
Democrat North Carolina member says the committee cannot prosecute Dr. Wirt for perjury but notes the district attorney and grand jury could take notice. He predicts no call for a DA investigation. J. W. Worthington, district NRS manager, urged all concrete workers in Ouachita Franklin Caldwell Richland and Morehouse parishes to re register with re employment bureaus. He noted upcoming paying work and the need for skilled and unskilled labor including roller operators paving machine operators and form liners. He said some workers failed to list experience and should re register with full qualifications. Work may begin soon at Lake Providence and could draw from all district parishes.
