Marriage at First Presbyterian Church in Marion
Miss Helen Hope Mitchell and Mr. Ralph Braxton Bird wed at 7:30 PM with Rev. A W Johnson officiating. The ceremony featured southern smilax gladioli and ivory decor, organ music by Leon Hammonds, and singing including The Lord's Prayer. The bride wore flesh satin with seed pearls and lace, a tiered veil, and carried an orchid bouquet. The couple's reception followed at Mrs. Mitchell's South Second Street home with gladioli, roses, and formal gowns. Guests included out-of-town relatives, and the couple will reside at 7601 DeSiard Street after a wedding trip.
