CAP Holds First Regular Meeting of Monroe Squadron
The Monroe Civil Air Patrol squadron met at Selman Field with Captain P. C. Pipes calling for high school boys aged 15 to 18 to join. The unit offers link training, meteorology, navigation and flight theory classes at no cost, with ground school and future uniforms planned. Regular army drill will be included but membership does not make youths servicemen.

An outing is planned for members of the local air cadet squadron with time and place to be announced. Last night’s meeting was attended by senior members and 12 staff officers of the focal group. Meetings are Fridays at 8 p m at Selman Field. Interested boys may contact Capt Pines or Lt R L George at telephone 2359 for information. Boiled smoked tongue cooling in its cooking liquid for at least an hour before peeling is advised.

Arcadia La April 10 Special Arcadia High School library hosts a book exhibit April 12 to 16 featuring volumes from major publishers on Louisiana requisition lists. Librarian Mrs Lucille A Daughdril says superintendents principals and librarians from nearby parishes are invited to view and select titles for next year. Out of town guests may attend any day except Wednesday April 14 when a local silver tea will be held for community members and parents.
