Mrs. Veazey of the Red Cross charged Monroe ambulance drivers lack up to date first aid cards. She said she mailed drivers to enroll in first aid classes but received no replies. Funeral director C H Hall countered that his drivers have a good first aid education.

Farmhand Hurt After Runaway Cotton Cutter Incident

R. M. Malone, 25, an Oak Ridge farmer, fell into the blades of a cotton stalk cutter when his team spooked by a clatter. He moved to jam the blades with his legs, suffering lacerations and contusions from hip to calf and a large knee cut. He was treated at Conway Memorial Hospital after a 2:20 p.m. accident.

Girl Injured in City Traffic Eight Vehicle Accidents

A five year old girl Carolyn Sue Panzico seriously injured after running from behind a parked ice truck into a city bus on Vernon street. Police say bus driver Charles Dalton avoided disaster by braking and swerving. The girl, taken to St Francis Sanitarium, shows severe bruises but no broken bones. A fourteen year old boy also injured in a separate motorcycle collision.

West Monroe Lions Minstrel Monday program released

The West Monroe Lions Club fourth annual all star minstrel is set for Monday at 8 p.m. in Neville High School auditorium. Five Thousand Stand Grim Watch Around Water Well

In San Marino California on April 9 a crowd of about five thousand police estimate surrounds a 14 inch pipe where 3 1/2 year old Kathy Fiscus is trapped more than 75 feet below the surface. A massive rescue operation is underway with heavy equipment and two drilling rigs as time runs toward evening.

California father seeks law to seal abandoned wells

David H. Fiscus, father of 3 year old Kathy who fell into a 230 foot unprotected old well in San Marino, urged a Sacramento bill to require registration and survey of all water sources and to cement abandoned wells. Loren E. Blakeley supported the proposal noting old wells must be fully cemented.

Rescue Effort Probes 14-Inch Well For Missing Child Kathy

Rescue workers dig a tunnel toward a 14 inch pipe where 7 year old Kathy is believed trapped. After 30 hours no sign of life appeared. Two shafts lie near the pipe as machinist O A Kelly reports a possible motionless arm and dress 37 feet below in the sunlit hole.
