Police from across the state gather in Monroe for a three day Louisiana Peace Officers Association meeting the first since 1941 and the first in the city since 1928. Monroe war veteran to command electronic warfare company
Lieutenant J M Knowles USNR named commanding officer of the Monroe electronic warfare company as part of a new naval reserve unit in Louisiana. The five officers and 40 men will install a navy radio short wave station with radar and sonar gear at hand from New Orleans master control, and recruit ages 17 to 40 among veterans and non veterans. Methodist Homes to Take Easter Offerings in Louisiana
All Methodist churches in Louisiana will take up special Easter offerings for the support of the Louisiana Methodist Orphanage at Ruston. The home, the only one of its denomination in the state, is funded by two church donations each Easter and autumn. The appeal urges generous donations today. A teen age club has been formed in Bernice sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. Meetings will be held Fridays at the Civic clubhouse.

Deadline for homestead exemptions urged by parish assessor
