Negro Saved from Mob Killed Sheriff with Car
In Columbiana Alabama a 34 year old Negro accused of deliberately running down Sheriff Luther Bozemen with a car during a raid was spirited away at high speed as a mob gathered. State Liquor Investigator Jack Benton said Webb had been jailed and officers fled with him after the incident.

Five Hurt In Two Car Collision On Highway 69
Five people were injured in a two car crash near the south city limits on Highway 69 at 10 44 last night. Felix Sansoucie 18 and two Freeport girls Dona Herbst 17 and Belva Sora 17 were treated at St. Clare hospital and released. Howard Steinmann 30 and his wife Gladys were also injured. Sansoucie failed to observe restrictions on a temporary permit and was fined 30 dollars plus costs with a one year sentence withheld if damages and medical expenses are paid and he is placed under welfare supervision.

Detroit reports the death of Clara Bryant Ford 84 widow of Henry Ford the famed automobile pioneer. She died at 1 a m in Henry Ford hospital after a heart ailment. Four Hurt In Town Road Crash Near Purcell School
Four persons were injured but not hospitalized after a head on collision on a gravel road six miles southwest of Monticello near Purcell school at 12 15 p m yesterday. Theophal H Graber and Robert Thoman sustained various injuries including bruises lacerations and a concussion while Thoman’s son Dayne age 3 had bruises and loose teeth. Both drivers were treated by a Monticello physician. A separate report notes William Tincker struck and killed a pig on highway 59 near Mahlkuch farm five miles northeast of Monroe yesterday evening.

Mrs. Aletta Martin 83 Dies in Warren
Mrs Aletta Martin 83 longtime South Wayne resident died this morning in a Warren nursing home where she had resided since March after a stroke. Born May 22 1867 in Mineral Point she taught Sunday school in South Wayne churches for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by husband George A nephew Dray Counter and his wife Elgin Ill came to arrange funeral plans.
