Green County reports its 1962 traffic toll rise to seven after a one car crash on a Spring Grove Township road near OK. Charles Foslin 19 and Gerald Bouton 18, both of Brodhead, died at the scene. Russell Becker discovered the wreck at 11:25 p.m. The car hit a cement abutment after 148 feet on the left side. no skid marks were found. Foslin reportedly drove the car which lacked seat belts. Coroner Deininger cites crushing injuries. no inquest. Services set for Foslin Wednesday. Bouton’s survivors include parents, a brother in the Marines, a sister, and grandparents.

Eight Die In Wisconsin Weekend Traffic Toll Rises
The weekend traffic toll in Wisconsin included two Green County fatalities and eight other deaths. Victims were Robert C. Mueller Jr. 20 of Racine, Carl Danforth 44 of Wisconsin Rapids, Alvin Lawrence 26 of Wyocena, Frank Weiffenbach 56 and Mary 53 of Sharon, Robert Germain 13 from New Richmond area, Sylvester Salentine 65 of Muskego, Mrs Pansy Peterson 52 of Prairie du Chien, William B. Gries 66 of Menomonee Falls, and Mrs Peter Groff 74 of Wausau. The tally brings the year’s death toll to 655.

Brook to be sentenced for Burlington officer slaying
Kenosha County Judge Urban Zievers set Tuesday morning for the sentencing of 21 year old Wilson Brook who was convicted of first degree murder in the February shooting of Sgt. Anthony Eilers 39. The jury rejected Brook's insanity defense and imposed life imprisonment. Brook said he believed the officer had no right to search his car during a license check.
