A meeting of the jail and courthouse committee of the County Board will be held Friday at 1 30 p m in the Courthouse. The panel will resume consideration of remodeling plans for the county jail and committee chairman Leo M. Ties indicated a plan he has formulated may be brought before the group.
In New York the General Assembly set aside the question of seating Red China for another year and approved a US motion to table the issue until 1956 by 42 votes to 12. Molotov pressed Peiping later, but Lodge blocked a vote. the agenda for the 10th session went to the Steering Committee, with atomic questions anticipated as high priority.
Wisconsin dairy markets show steady to firm Swiss cheese with good demand and ample offerings. Prices edge up slightly on moisture grades and various forms including daisies and midgets, while Cheddar shows fractional advances and demand remains adequate, with A and B grades near adequate and grinders sampled.

Harold Matzke of Clarno won the county senior division plowing contest for the third year running. John Marty of New Glarus took the junior title for the second year. More than 2,000 spectators watched at the Lehr Bros. farm west of Monroe.
Mrs Robert Atwood 87 former Nellie Martin died last night at her home in Brodhead. She was born Sept 8 1868 in Spring Grove Township and married Robert Atwood Feb 22 1887. Survivors include two daughters Mrs Lester Kirkpatrick of Grand Rapids and Mrs T T Cortelyou of El Paso, one grandson Robert Cortelyou of Wichita and two great grandchildren. Funeral services Friday at 2 p m at Newcomer funeral home with Rev J C Robertson officiating burial in Greenwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow night.
Monroe volunteers win approval for year round paid practice with 2 dollars per night or per fire call. Council also schedules Nov 1 hearing to vacate a unused alley north of 5th street and east of 20th avenue. Parking limits near North School and a new stop sign at Recreation Park approved. Other actions include deed acceptance, street light installation, and request for a book audit before May 1 renewal.
New York stocks rose as trading expanded to about 214 million shares for the day. The session saw gains of one to two points in several key issues, with losses limited. Notable winners included Northern Pacific and International Paper among others.

In San Francisco three counties joined the hunt for baby Robert Marcus abducted from Mt. Zion Hospital on Monday. Lt. Donald Scott said a buxom blonde allegedly involved was possibly seen in San Jose, with police expanding the search to Marin and the city. The infant is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Sanford Marcus. A San Jose woman reported a blonde woman seeking heat for a baby, while a Marin County witness described a blonde woman with a small child stopping at her home seeking directions to Point Reyes Station.
Two young Wisconsin wives succumbed to bulbar polio as the late-season wave grew. Mrs. Florence Mendrzycki, 31, of Schofield, died after hospitalizing five days and giving birth to a son earlier that day. the baby died too. Mrs. Doris Kasberger, 28, of Sheboygan, died at St Nicholas hospital, the fourth death in the city amid 27 polio cases.
