Washington AP reports a 10 percent income tax surcharge is not under active consideration by the Nixon administration. Treasury Deputy Secretary William E. Simon dismissed Laird’s remarks on the plan as not relevant to Schultz leaving his post. Simon says the president rejects the surcharge and notes ongoing discussions on economic ideas.
