The 1970 Cheese Days Parade, under co chairmen Harold Snively and Walter Ekum, will feature 125 units with music, floats, and dignitaries, starting 1 30 p m Sunday Sept 20 for about two hours. Melvin Mauerman leads on horseback with a Color Guard, band, Bourbon queen Darleen Rufener, and many floats from Green County groups and national organizations.

Fire destroys Powet Square Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles
A pre-dawn blaze at the 60 year old four story Powet Square Hotel near the garment district left eleven dead and 22 unaccounted for. Twenty five injured as residents jumped from windows and bedsheets. Firemen say the fire began in or near the lobby with about ninety in the building.

Open house held Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Albany for N. Roy Bowman as he observes his 95th birthday. More than 200 people attended with 145 families represented, including his nephew Duane Bowman of Madison. Bowman has barbered in Albany for 72 years and his daughter Gladys Smith lives with him.
