John Prince, 20, of the town of Cook Valley, died in a two car crash at a highway intersection twelve miles northeast of Chippewa Falls. The accident occurred last night and involved two automobiles. Authorities investigated the scene.
Washington and state agriculture officials question a bio warfare plot behind a sharp hog death rate in the Midwest corn belt. Representative Stefan urged FBI and agriculture probes amid reports of 30 to 50 percent losses since 1949. Dr Simms said no evidence supports the theory.

Two fishermen from Menomonie drowned when their boat overturned on the Apple River near Amery. Victims were Herman Scheel, 63, and his son in law George Godfreson, 36.
The Senate approved a stringent anti subversive bill 70 to 7 after merging two measures, detailing internment of dangerous Reds, registration of communist groups, barring Reds from government jobs and passports, plus new espionage and deportation powers. Senate leaders Kilgore and McCarren saw key amendments, including a veto risking plan and changes to the passport office and court picket ban.
Kohler pledges to continue and expand Wisconsin welfare programs saying over 13 million dollars was appropriated for welfare institutions. Schmitt attacks bank taxes, Porter gets GOP backing, Rennebohm endorses Porter and urges turnout. Fairchild supports excess profits tax for defense funding. Cecil Yankey, 42, of Highland County, was executed in Ohio State Penitentiary death chamber after protests of innocence in the 1947 Greenfield pensioner Leroy Woodland murder. He had twice faced death row, first by life sentence later vacated, and then re convicted to the electric chair.

Brigadier General Davidson commands a United Nations task force trapping 3,000 Red Korean troops northwest of Kyongju. The force swept a mountain corridor south of Pohang and secured ridges near the Pohang airfield with air support aiding the assault.
President Truman named George Catlett Marshall, veteran soldier and former secretary of state, as defense secretary to replace Louis Johnson. Johnson resigned citing attacks and internal clashes as Marshall prepared to return to government service amid a push to amend the law barring active-duty officers from defense posts.
National Broadcasting Co reviews Saturday Cheese Day films shot by Grant Halladay of Three Rivers. Halladay has been creating an official motion picture of Green County and the dairying industry since April for potential network television broadcast.
A presidential emergency board accused four operating railroad unions of attempting to extort hundreds of thousands of dollars from the New York Central railroad. The charge appeared in a report to President Truman.
In Rainier Oregon a 15 month old Ronald Mysinger fell 12 feet into a 20 foot dry well. Forty townspeople aided by Dr M A Kenney supplied oxygen as rescuers dug parallel shafts and scooped earth by hand. Ronald was found resting on a bucket in the dry shaft and after the ordeal appeared unharmed.
Mrs. Ernst J Hoesly a 56 year old widow of former county board chairman died at 7 this morning after a year long illness. Born Edith Caroline Marty in 1893 she moved from Laverne Iowa to New Glarus in 1900. She married Ernst Hoesly in 1917 who died in 1948. She leaves a son Harold and daughters Ruth and Janet and two sisters. Services Friday at 2 pm in Swiss church with Rev Walter Stuckey officiating. Burial in church cemetery.
George Forcade 77 of Belleville Ill died yesterday at 1 p m in St Elizabeth hospital after a heart attack at home He was father of Alderman L G Forcade Funeral services will be held tomorrow from a Belleville funeral home Mr and Mrs L G Forcade left today for Belleville

Nicholas Meyers of Argyle died yesterday afternoon at St. Clare hospital after years of ill health. A Swiss immigrant who arrived in the United States as a child, he worked as a cheese maker and farmer in Lafayette County and near Woodlawn and later retired to Argyle. Survived by five daughters, four sons, one brother, two sisters, 27 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral at Evangelical and Reformed church Darlington with Rev William S. Siemers officiating. burial in Union Grove cemetery. Body at Nelson-Sharer funeral home Darlington.
