Voters flocked to the polls in pleasant September weather for three local contests. A noon total of 908 voters edged past the 1960 fall primary by 333 but did not reach the 961 noon voters seen in the April election.
The Monroe Evening Times will provide telephone results tonight for the primary election. Service starts at 7 30 p m and runs until 10 p m or later depending on tabulation speed. Call Telephone No 3 for election returns.
In a multi race county contest two GOP sheriff candidates W E Doc Deininger and Leslie M Schwitz seek the nomination to replace Sheriff A Charles Howe. A three way assembly race includes C M Stauffer Victor N Schiller and G Fred Galli with Democrat F L Buchschacher unopposed. Senate GOP field features five candidates Edward J Kaderly Gordon W Roseleip Roy L Lewis Irven Gibson and Ray J Eckstein with Democrat Ted Griswold the lone challenger. Richard R Wagner runs unopposed for coroner. Turnout opens at 9 am with voters in several wards and light morning participation expected to rise. A single statewide contest is a three man governor GOP nomination.
James B. Donovan, representing the Cuban Families Committee, says Castro's Cuba may free about 1100 Bay of Pigs prisoners for humanitarian reasons. He cites Cuba's need for food and medicines and offers his group to provide these items after negotiations in Havana.
Twenty six Swiss surgeons plus families will visit Green County for a three day stay in Madison and New Glarus. They will be hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Arnold S. Jackson with a reception by Mayor Waldo Freitag at the New Glarus hotel. The group, led by Dr. Andrew Nicolet of Bern, is from the International College of Surgeons and will attend clinics at Methodist hospital and tours of Jackson Foundation labs and X ray departments. They will also visit the State Capitol and McArdle Cancer Research Institute.
Enrollment stands at 47 with 32 seniors and 15 juniors. President John W Zweifel cites fears of closure as a factor, with the college slated to operate at least until 1968 amid legislative debate on its fate. The unusual junior class includes 10 boys and five girls. Classes run on full schedule with demonstrations and model room.
William F. Renk, 86, of Sun Prairie and father of gubernatorial candidate Wilbur Renk, was reported in fair condition at a Madison hospital Monday night after a possible heart ailment. He was hospitalized Saturday following illness at home.
Sister Mary Josephine of Fond du Lac takes over as the new administrator of St. Clare hospital. She has 32 years in hospital work and will also remain hospital counselor for Sisters of St. Agnes for the next year. Sister Agatha leaves for St. Anthony hospital and Sister M. Angelita departs for rest at St. Anthony's.

Rev. Gerritt Mouw was reelected president of Green County Red Cross at the annual meeting in the Chamber of Commerce office. Jacob Bruni of New Glarus was named vice chairman, with Karl Kundert treasurer and Schillinger executive secretary. Enoch Huston joined the executive board. The Board of Public Works is set to recommend preparing a 2000 foot secondary runway at the new airport site at tomorrow night's special council meeting. If approved, funds would be set aside for immediate facilities this fall ahead of a longer runway next spring. Mayor Orville R. Evans calls the meeting to discuss the city finances audit.
The editor and publisher of Your Pony magazine William A. Simpson of Baraboo will judge pony classes at the first annual Jaycee Pony and Horse Show at the fairgrounds this weekend. Simpson, a pioneer editor and promoter in pony circles, has helped organize several associations and breed sales.

Spokane news reports all 44 aboard the Strategic Air Command KC135 were killed when the tanker from Ellsworth AFB plunged into a fog shrouded Mt Kit Carson ravine near Spokane. The crew included 39 Air Force personnel, one civilian, and four flight crew. The jet was en route to Fairchild AFB for runway repairs.
