Dirksen Lie In State In Rotunda Honor At Capitol

The Senate Republican leader Everett Dirksen lies in state in the Capitol rotunda with a military honor guard. His casket rests on the Lincoln era catafalque and will move to National Presbyterian Church after noon Wednesday. Nixon declines burial attendance. Vice President Agnew will attend in his stead. Dirksen’s is the fourth lie in state at the Capitol, joining Sumner Logan and Taft.

CROP Campaign Set for Sept 15 Aids Hungry in Green County

Green County Ministerial Association met at Grace Lutheran to plan a countywide CROP hunger campaign starting September 15 led by Rev. Larry Pinnow. A CROP Sunday on Sept 14 urged area churches to emphasize aid in sermons.

Highway Toll Reaches 750 in Wisconsin Traffic Deaths

Wisconsin traffic toll rose to 750 after three two vehicle crashes. Wayne Swanson 37 from Duluth and Gordon Thorsen 49 from Proctor were killed on Highway 105 between Superior and Oliver. Reinhart Radant 71 of Wausau died in a Weston intersection crash. Theodore Horton 19 of rural Waupun died in a Fond du Lac County highway collision near Waupun.

Modern Square Dancing Classes Scheduled Here September Fifteen

The State Line Squares offer lessons or social dancing from 8 30 to 10 30 p m in the Monroe Community Room City Hall starting Monday September 15 with Joe McKeown as instructor. Dancers will learn calls build physical mental and social skills and join the World Daily Expo 1969 Mid America Square Jubilee in Madison October 5.

Special Appeal For Blood For Heart Surgery

The Badger Red Cross Regional Blood Center in Madison asks for blood for open heart surgery. Eight units of positive blood are needed for a 39 year old Racine man and four pints of negative blood for a 4 year old Sheboygan Falls boy. Bloodmobile hours are 4:30 p.m. at Turner Hall. Donors must never have had a transfusion, must not have been pregnant, and must have no allergies.

Referendum Set For Orangeville Vote on Bond for Sewage Project

Orangeville voters will decide on a 35000 general obligation bond at a special election on Tuesday Oct 14 to ensure completion of the sewage project. The village board also rehired accountant Jack D Huggins and approved safety measures on Rock Grove Blacktop near Illinois 26.
