In Muskego Wisconsin an 83 year old gold wedding ring lost for a week was recovered after a blackbird kept pecking at a seed tray. Fred H Zimmerman said he observed the bird’s behavior and traced the ring to the spot he had raked. He credited the birds with guiding him to the jewelry and said the find was as much a payoff for kindness to the birds as for the ring.

Three cars involved in Sunday Wisconsin mishap

Despite threatening weather, the 34th annual Schiller's drama Wilhelm Tell was staged in New Glarus. English and German performances attracted 3,210, 1,055, and 2,230 attendees across Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Alpine Festivals and the Tell Outdoor Art Show also drew crowds with 250 artists. A brief Sunday rain disrupted plans but the art show moved to both days under sunny skies. Green County saw 1.5 to 2 inches of rainfall over the weekend.

The body of former Sen Rourke B Hickenlooper will be moved from Washington to Cedar Rapids Iowa for burial Thursday after his death at 75. He was found dead Saturday in Shelter Island New York at a friend's home. Traffic deaths across Labor Day weekend reached 614, up slightly from last year.
