State Department of Agriculture and American Dairy Association leaders started Cheese Day Week in Green County with a tour of local outlets. The advance team included Shel don C. Wilcox and William Johnson of ADA and Merrill Richardson of the state department. They met local organizers to urge merchants to display cheese and record sales for a state ADA test market study.

National Death Toll Exceeds Predictions During Holiday

Geneva reports nine American civilians including six women are free to return home from Communist China. Wang Pingenan told U. S. Ambassador Johnson at their 13th meeting that two more could leave with exit permits and a third within two to three months. Polio Case Reported in County

An eight year old Clarno boy, Frederick William Beckman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Beckman, is hospitalized with non paralytic polio. He attends West Clarno school and is in good condition. County superintendent Irene Powers urged school boards to cooperate in prevention measures.
