Volunteers Aid Ravaged Adams Township After Tornado
More than 50 volunteers moved into Adams Township in northwest Green County to help clean up five farms damaged by Monday night's tornado. The Red Cross distributed coffee and doughnuts and tarpaulins while coordinating with Rev. Gerritt Mouw Walter Bober and Ralph Lindsay. Sheriff Deininger reported heavy traffic and extended patrols as cleanup continued at the Donald Flannery farm hastily established as headquarters.

Swiss Jetliner Explodes and Crashes Near Zurich
An airliner operated by Swissair exploded in midair and crashed west of Duerrenaaesch after takeoff from Zurich.
