One Act Plays Slated Tuesday at New Glarus High
New Glarus High School students will present two one act plays in the grade school gym at 7 30 p m Tuesday. A rating of four on either play makes the school eligible for the district meet on November 8 at Platteville. The state contest is December 3 at Stevens Point. A matinee was held today. Weekend county crashes amid Halloween vandalism sprees
A long string of weekend accidents in the county reports drivers injured only lightly or not at all. Douglas E. Baker 19 of South Wayne drove into a bridge under construction east of Browntown at 12:20 a m near Highway 11. His car left the road 30 paces and tore through a fence and steel bridge support. no injuries were reported. LaVerne J. Duttsman of Freeport Ill was chased by authorities after a road sign appeared in the back seat and plunged a car into a ditch two miles south of Monroe on Highway 69 at 11:45 p m. no injuries, front wheel and tire damage noted. A buck deer was struck and killed on Highway 69 near New Glarus by Richard Wainwright of New Glarus. station wagon grill damaged. In Monroe and Freeport the patrol logged multiple minor wrecks and pre Halloween vandalism reports. Dorothy W. Collins of Freeport suffered a bruised lip in a two car collision at 5:33 p m Saturday on 16th Ave. drivers Helen Stratton of Chicago and Phyllis Young of Freeport sustained bumper damage. In Swiss Colony Parking Lot two Monroe drivers Jess ie Holcomb and Donovan Otteson caused a collision. damage reported. A three car mishap on 11th St involved Larry L. Andrews 17 Monroe, Dale A. About 350 boys and girls collected more than 3650 for UNICEF in a house to house drive described by St John’s Church clergy as highly successful. Don Davenport cites citywide cooperation while a series of vandalism incidents including stolen pumpkins and a leaf fire at the Etter residence prompted plans for Auxiliary Police patrols tonight.
