Gunman Admits Shooting Fond du Lac Officer
A Chicago man identified as Alvin Spanle admitted firing the shot that critically wounded Fond du Lac Patrolman Nick A. Kinske during a 70 mile high speed chase across four counties. Spanle, Carl Raymond Scueler, and a 17 year old companion were captured at a Sun Prairie service station. Kinske, 37, was in serious condition after surgery to repair internal damage and a fractured pelvis. The incident followed a Lake Delton gunfight in which an officer was killed and another wounded. The group surrendered at a Dane County roadblock near Sun Prairie after a police pursuit that spanned Dodge, Columbia, and Green Lake counties.
