U.S. Deploys 15 B52 Bombers to Guam Near China

The United States placed 15 long range B52 bombers on Guam, about 1,000 miles from Red China, replacing older B47s. The move, undisclosed previously, shortens distance to Communist China by about 5,000 miles and marks the first overseas deployment of B52s.

Johnson shocked by Jenkins story and Baker woes

President Johnson says he was shocked by the Jenkins morality allegations and asked Jenkins to resign after his two arrests became public. He also says Bobby Baker will face authorities if any laws were violated and notes Baker resigned as secretary to Senate Democrats a year ago amid investigations.

Roundup To Be Annual Event For Green County Youths

The fall roundup at the Green County fairgrounds showcased 4H and FFA youths selling calves, with top prices paid by Jaycees and Armour. Two Area Men Die In Head-On Crash Near Blanchardville

Two Blanchardville men James Theobald 42 and Lawrence Ryan 70 were killed in a head-on collision four miles north of Blanchardville on County Trunk F. Theobald left a restaurant business and livestock buyer. Ryan was a World War I veteran and semi retired salesman. Funeral services for Ryan set for 9 and 9:30 a.m. with NATO burial rites planned in Calvary cemetery. Theobald services at 2 p.m. in Middlebury Methodist church. Wisconsin highway deaths total 871 for the year with three double-fatality accidents statewide.

Green County 4 H honors Miss Witt and Botteron winners

Beverly Witt 18, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lester Witt, and Nathan Botteron 21, son of Mrs Cora Botteron, were named 1964 Green County achievement girl and boy at Monticello high school. Witt's 4 H projects include beef photography home grounds garden clothing house plants and food preservation. Botteron's projects cover dairy junior leadership and poultry.

Rev Bowden Bowed Out After 55 Years Of Ministry

Rev. W. S. Bowden, 79, Advent Christian pastor for more than five decades, died of an apparent heart attack at his LaValle home in Sauk County. He led Magnolia church near Albany for over 10 years and pastored in multiple states. He authored five religious books and 24 tracts, edited church bulletins, and served on church boards and presidencies. He was a noted educator and youth advocate with a long record of civic involvement. He married Lara Effie Coleman in 1908 and left children Saville, Paul, and two daughters.

A light plane crash in a farmer's field near Boscobel injures pilot Bob Olson and passenger James Adelhoven. Olson is treated at Boscobel hospital and Adelhoven at Xavier hospital in Dubuque. Both are listed in satisfactory condition. Adelhoven may have a back injury.
