Speth Leads Chalet Supper Club Venture Near Monroe

Ten men from dairy farming to hair styling form a new ownership group for The Chalet, a supper club 12 miles east of Monroe on Highway 1181. Bruce Timm, Brodhead, chairs the board and Jim Speth acts as restaurant manager and director, bringing eight years of prior experience at Hi-Nabor Inn to steer recipes, service, and lighting.

Pheasant Opening Season Sees More Hunters, Less Success

Cold cloudy weather did not deter more hunters on public grounds in the opening day of the 1965 pheasant season, with roughly 20 percent more hunters than last year on public grounds though success fell about 10 percent. A shooting accident injured a Beloit hunter, while conservation officials logged hunting pressure and bag totals across Green and Lafayette counties. Eighty-two pheasants were bagged by 123 opening day hunters at Vernon Marsh in Waukesha County.

Squirrel Hunters Hurt in Mishap at Camp McCoy
