Choir Festival To Be Sunday

43 German Miners Trapped by Floods
In Hilde…neim Germany seven miners were rescued from a flooded iron mine tonight. The disaster left 43 miners missing underground as a dam collapse released about 650000 cubic yards of icy water into the mine Thursday night. The seven survivors were found in a side gallery at the 180 foot level.

Wenger Nearly Snatches Crown From 1962 Champ
Arlyn Zee, a 23 year old Albany farmer, won the national two row mechanical corn picking championship at Willis Riemer farm in Decatur Township with 97.701 points, beating 24 contestants from seven Midwestern states. Ambrose Wenger placed second in the picker shelter division, just .003 of a point behind William Buller of Brookings, South Dakota. Zee’s wife Bonnie Holtsapple resides in Albany area.
