A Dane County woman gave birth to conjoined twin girls at Madison General Hospital on Sunday. The sisters are joined at the abdomen but appear normal otherwise. The mother, father, and infant remain in good condition. doctors expect four to five days to assess separation prospects.

Diem to Proclaim South Viet Nam Republic Wednesday

Premier Ngo Dinh Diem, the anti Communist leader, won a landslide referendum and will declare South Viet Nam a republic and his presidency. He will preside at the birth of the republic with cabinet and diplomats present and remain premier until the first National Assembly election. In Saigon, Diem led with 424,126 votes to Bao Dai's 2,036. Tourane supported Diem 47,712 to 5 for Bao Dai.

Herbert Matzke of Clarno Dies at 65

Herbert A. Matzke 65 of Clarno retired farmer and stock buyer died at 3 p m Saturday at home after a heart attack while washing his car. Born April 22 1890 in Jefferson Township he married Nellie Pick on November 30 1911 and moved to Clarno in 1941. He leaves his wife three sons a daughter two sisters two brothers seven grandchildren and several relatives. Stock Prices Up For Seventh Day

NEW YORK prices rose moderately on the stock market heading for a seventh straight daily advance. Steels led the gains which spread across major divisions as the Associated Press average climbed 60 cents to 170.50 at noon, above the late-September level for the first time since the October heart attack news.
