New York Times correspondent reports Auschwitz camp is electrified under guard and warned that Indonesian bloodshed would follow if more Dutch troops land. Sailors cited Sir Philip Christison in briefing on 25,000 Dutch and Eurasian civilians at risk.
Unusually large pheasant numbers are reported across the state with some red fox claims also noted. Dr and Mrs Albert G Lund gren Chicago were visiting Saturday to Sunday afternoon. The woman is 84 and fell breaking her hip. Her daughter, a nurse, returned today to stay with her mother and also to be with her aged father.
Angus S. Hibbard 85 a pioneer engineer and inventor and former general superintendent of the American Telephone and Telegraph company died after a hospitalization since November. He broke his hip in a fall in Milwaukee and later led Wisconsin telegraph operations, earning the church gold cross of service as the first layman to receive the pension award. He is survived by his widow.
Six motor vehicle accidents occurred in the Monroe area over the weekend with reckless driving noted but no serious injuries. At noon Saturday E A Podolske drove a 1935 Plymouth into a creek after following a line of cars. he and Miss Jaret Doyle survived. Saturday evening Miss Reather Bowers and others suffered minor damage on a north of 69 315 mile stretch. no serious injuries. A Brooklyn driver’s car overturned after a collision with William Hartwig’s machine near Polo Hill. Mrs Hitchcock sustained a head injury. Sunday a 1942 Dodge driven by Jayeton collided with a Ford pickup and bent fenders. At 9:32 last night on 11th street, Lester Anderson and Merlyne Miller had bent fenders after a left turn and backing out collision. Late Saturday Victor Road saw a collision between a 1938 Chevrolet and a 1933 Plymouth with bent fenders.
Wesley Koroll, 17, was injured when his car was hit by another vehicle about a mile south of Durand at junction 70 and 75. He is son of Mr. and Mrs. George Koroll of Durand, Illinois, and was taken to St. Clare hospital for head lacerations and possible skull fracture. No other injuries were reported.
Ray E. Barth, recently back at The Times as a reporter, has left Sos ae to accept a publishing position with a house in Chicago. He cited health issues from an asthmatic condition and began his new duties in cage today after spending much of last week there.
