The Woman's Club of Monroe launches a three day Benefit Book Re Sale to raise funds for an Arts Workshop for all elementary students in the Monroe School System. The sale runs this evening 6 to 9 at the Community Center and continues Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon. About 2,000 donated books across categories are offered. Co chairmen are Mrs Lee Olsen and Mrs John Kundert. The workshop will be arranged later in the school year by the Cultural Arts committee of the Monroe PTA Council.
Commerce Department reports GNP growth of 5.9 percent in the third quarter, down from 9.4 percent previously, with inflation rising to 2.2 percent. Officials say 1972 could be a banner year despite slower growth and aim for about 3 percent inflation by year end.
In Saigon Kissinger and Thieu conferred twice on Paris peace talks. Thieu reiterated opposition to a tripartite government or any coalition including the Communists, via a government communique read at the Information Ministry briefing. The talks also touched on possible coalitions with the Viet Cong, with no official U.S. leaks.
The Green County Executive Committee fine tuned campaign events with GOP candidates Mike Kelly and Joseph Tregoning. Kelly tours Monroe and surrounds, plans a Saturday caravan and Sunday dinner. Tregoning has a kickoff Monday as he remains with his wife in Rochester. Volunteers urged for the Key Cities door-to-door effort.
