Mrs Kundert Hurt in Crash at Croftville Intersection

Mrs Jacob Kundert of 2220 14th avenue sustained a bruised chest and shock after a two car collision at the Highway 11 and 13 intersection in Croftville. She rode as a passenger in a car driven by Joseph Jones of 1916 14th avenue and is in good condition at St. Clare hospital. The other driver, Fred W. Mathison of Oak Park Illinois, stopped at a stop sign and crossed the intersection when the Jones car struck his rear. Neither driver was injured.

Marie Benkert Succumbs at 79

Marie Benkert 79 a former Monroe resident died at 11 45 PM at her home 2316 17th Avenue after months of cancer She was born May 25 1879 in Canton Wallis Switzerland and came to the US in 1892 She married Charles Benkert March 22 1902 in St Johns Church She had five daughters and two sons and was active in St Johns church community Survivors include daughters Mrs Vincent Thomm Mrs Roy Speich Mrs Franklin Pickett Mrs William Wartenweiler and Mrs Clifford McCurry sons Edwin and Walter She was preceded in death by her husband and several siblings Funeral services will be at St Johns United Church of Christ with burial in Greenwood cemetery.

Schadewaldt Rites Set For Rockford Resident

Emil Schadewaldt Sr. 54 of Rockford, formerly of the New Glarus area, died Tuesday night at St. Anthony hospital. Services are Saturday in Rockford at noon with graveside rites at Greenwood cemetery Monroe at 2:30 p.m. Burial follows. He was born June 8 1904 in Clarno Township and married Hilda Friese March 5 1930. Survivors include his wife two sons Emil Paul Jr. and Kyle Michael a daughter in law three grandchildren five brothers and four sisters. He was employed by Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. and farmed near New Glarus 1944 1950 vice member Swiss Evangelical and Reformed church New Glarus.

Little Hope Remains For Missing Oilmen

NEW ORLEANS Little hope was held today for seven men missing after explosions and fire at an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico off the Louisiana coast. One man was killed and 21 survivors were brought to hospitals for treatment of injuries suffered in Wednesday's blasts.
