East Clarno observes its 75th anniversary with morning services at 10 by Dr. Paul Keen of Naperville and 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Charles Bender of Prairie du Lac. The milestone recalls 1875 founding by ten laymen and a minister, construction by Jacob Steinman, and 22 pastors through the years led by current pastor Rev. Homer Retzlaff.

Projections show tougher pheasant hunting due to dense cover while ducks and geese have a 8 a m to 4 19 p m window tomorrow. Daily limits include two pheasants and up to eight ducks or four geese with migratory stamps required.

Polio cases in Wisconsin rise to 615 this season

Longtime Monroe business leader Roy Jaberg dies at 78
Roy Jaberg a Monroe Ford dealer and former chair of the Green County rationing board for 18 months during World War II died at his home after a long illness. He was born in New Philadelphia Ohio in 1872 and retired in 1941 as principal partner of Monroe Sales Co. Services will be held at Stuessy funeral home tomorrow with burial in Greenwood cemetery.

Doe and fawns visit Otis Wells' farm in Jordan township

Pfc Albert Weber Dies In Korean Action
First Monroe death in the Korean war reported by the defense department. Pfc Albert George Weber, 23, son of Mr and Mrs Carl Frenzel of Monroe, was killed in action in Korea. He enlisted 1945, separated 1947, re enlisted that fall. Born May 2 1927 he attended Monroe schools. He leaves his mother step father a brother in Rockford a half brother at home and three aunts. Mrs Frenzel received a letter from her marine son last December.

Hershey proposes drafting 18 year olds to ease veteran call

Lewis Residence Damaged by Albany Fire
The home of Mrs. Lottie Lewis and her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Everett Peckham in Albany was severely damaged by fire this morning. Mrs. Lewis, about 80, found flames in the basement and the fire spread through heating ducts into walls. The Peckhams’ upstairs apartment suffered smoke damage while water-filled walls and embers risked further damage. Firemen fought for an hour with a stoker-fed coal furnace explosion suspected as the cause.

Henry Sippel 68 of 2027 17th avenue died at his home after years of heart illness. Born in Starkles Kreis Hers feld Germany on June 24 1882 he came to Monroe in 1896 and later moved to Cadiz township then Monroe in 1946. He was vice president of the Green county farm bureau and a member of St Johns church. Survived by a widow four daughters a son two brothers and a sister in Germany and 10 grandchildren. Funeral at Shrin er-Neushwander and services at St Johns church noon Monday with burial in Greenwood cemetery.

Siedschlag Hit In Auto Collision on 11th Street
Mrs. August F. Siedschlag of 1114 19th avenue was slightly injured when her car collided with a vehicle driven by Fred M. Dettwiler of 508 20th avenue in the 1900 block of 11th street. Dettwiler paused to drop a passenger and was starting when the Siedschlag car struck his left side. The driver said sun glare briefly blinded him while reaching for the visor. Mrs. Siedschlag received treatment for a head cut and a bruise.

Man Shoots Wife Then Kills Himself in Denmark
Albert Pelischek, 38, of route 1 Denmark, killed himself with a shotgun after wounding his wife during a family quarrel. Mrs Cla ra Pelischek, 38, was treated at St. Mary's hospital in Green Bay and listed in fair condition. Sheriff Gordon Zuidmulder reported the incident occurred last night.
