Oldest Church in Monroe Eyes Museum Move

Monroe’s 1861 church, founded by pioneer families and celebrating a 100 year span since 1958, nears transfer of its building to Green County Historical Society for use as a museum after a church board vote. The Green County Fall Roundup at the Green County Fairgrounds drew a large crowd under clear skies with events from calf scramble to pig catching. Pat Flanagan 16 was treated at St. Clare Hospital after a calf tangle. winners included Pete Adamson and Nick Faessler with roping contests and several 4-H and FFA youths among the scramble and pig-catching victors.

Tim O Connell vows to stay out of pipe after ordeal

Milwaukee Boy Timothy O Connell and two companions crawled a block long four foot diameter drainage pipe entering a storm sewer. Timothy stepped into six feet of ankle deep water and was trapped for about thirty minutes before three firefighters pried off bars and rescued him.

Bidlingmaier Rises on Tuesday

Albert Bidlingmaier 84 of Monroe dies after a year of strokes at Monroe Manor Nursing Home. He logged 40 years farming in Winslow area, helped on local school and farm co op boards, and lived in Monroe after retirement. Survived by wife Lena, two sons, two brothers, three sisters, 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Funeral details incomplete.
