Amputee Vet Drives Government Car In Monroe Visit
Beloit resident Ray Porter, World War II amputee, drove the first government-purchased automobile for an amputee to appear in Monroe. Porter, who lost his right leg in Italy, had his Oldsmobile coach delivered Oct 7 after applying Sept 7. He visited his Beloit sister Mrs. Arthur Johnson during the trip.
