Hurt In Truck Mishap Near Monroe Involving Alden Elmer

Alden F. Bud Elmer, 42, of 1713 28th Avenue, is reported in good condition at St. Clare hospital with a fractured pelvis after losing control of his truck on Blum Hill, Highway 81, five miles northwest of Monroe. The accident occurred at 11:15 p.m. and he was admitted at 11:40 p.m. A separate report from 5:22 a.m. notes a milk cow herd crossing County Trunk K near the Monroe cemeteries caused damage to a car driven by John J. Mean, 19, Route 2, though no injuries were reported.

Borrowed Book Remains in Kennedy Memorabilia

Eunice Shriver, sister of John F Kennedy, visited a Baltimore exhibit of KennedyLibrary items in Los Angeles. She claimed a Frost poetry volume borrowed by Kennedy was not his, joking that Jack never returned a borrowed book. Maxwell Hamilton, exhibit director, confirmed the incident.

Rails Nearing Record Peaks

New York rail stocks moved toward record peaks as trading remained active. New York Central and Pennsylvania Railway led gains while other carriers posted milder uptrends. Assembly of God buys Monroe clinic for new church

The Assembly of God Church of Monroe announced it has purchased the Gonstead Chiropractic Clinic building at 1902 8th Street and will assume possession around February 1. Rev. Robert Olson said interior remodeling will create a sanctuary with the basement to host Sunday school and youth gatherings. The exterior will remain unchanged.
